Restoring Archived Files


Archived objects can be accessed by:
  • Shell extension
  • Special links
  • Additional tab under the properties of a file or folder
  • Searching
Files that were compressed during archiving, will be decompressed.
Compressed files or those with names attributed according to ISO 9660 will be listed with their original names.
You can open a file directly with its associated application (as long as it is not spanned over multiple disks). From a compressed file, a read-only copy will be opened in a temporary folder.
You can open a folder directly. In the shell extension, a new window of Explorer will be displayed. I In all other cases, the objects within the folder will be listed in the same window.

Files and folders that are archived with absolute paths, can be restored to their original places. The driveletter can be changed.
Files and folders can be restored in any folder you choose.
If a file has been split over multiple disks, the pieces will be joined together.

There will be several options if a file orfolder with the same name already exists at the destination.

Properties of a listed item can be displayed. This includes notes entered while archiving and detailsabout storage location.

You can define whether or not the archive attribute will be set after restoring.
The original read-only attribute of a file will be restored, even if the archive medium is read-only (e.g. a CD-ROM).
If the archived file has been stored on a removable disk, you will be prompted to insert that disk.
